Citation check

One verdict card per reference, compared field by field against four scholarly databases.

The four databases

Crossref, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, and Open Library. The comparison covers author, title, year, venue, DOI, and URL.

What each verdict means

Exists

The reference matches a real work on the fields checked.

Exists, with a small problem

The reference matches a real work, but one field does not line up — for example, the year differs.

Unsure

The reference could not be matched confidently. Treat it as a prompt to check by hand, not as a claim about the work.

Unverifiable

No matching work could be verified from the databases checked. Some references, such as an ibid note with no full details, fall here by their nature.

After unlocking

Unlocking a paper adds source recommendations and citation formats in APA, MLA, Chicago, IEEE, and BibTeX. Source recommendations are not a third product — they appear only after the paper is unlocked.
