Getting started

What can I upload?

Paste text or upload TXT, PDF or DOCX, up to 20 MB. PDFs need selectable text; scans and photographs aren’t supported. Extracted text must fit the scanner’s character limit.

Can I run both checks?

Yes, separately. Choose AI detector or Citation check. Switching modes keeps your text in the editor.

What if I leave during a scan?

The server keeps working. Return in the same browser to resume the saved job. Completed results remain available for 24 hours. Resuming does not submit or charge for another scan.

What if a scan fails?

Read the error beside the editor and resume the saved job if offered. Failed server jobs refund their scan allowance. Keep the check mode, text language and exact error if you need to investigate.

AI results

Does a result prove who wrote the paper?

No. A detector reads writing patterns, not authorship or intent. Use the result with drafts, source material and the policy that applies. It must not be the sole basis for a penalty.

Why can sentence highlights and the document result differ?

The whole-document result is the primary verdict. Sentence highlights show passages worth reviewing; they add context and do not override that verdict.

Can editing or translation affect the signal?

Yes. Translation, grammar cleanup, short passages and substantial editing can change the patterns a detector reads. A scan cannot reconstruct the writing process or identify a particular tool.

Which languages can I check?

English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. Interface language and paper language are separate settings. Non-English results carry an experimental notice and need additional care.

Should I rewrite until the score changes?

Revise for clarity, accuracy and sound sources. A low signal does not certify authorship, predict another detector’s result or guarantee acceptance.

Citations

What does Citation check compare?

Author, title, year, venue, DOI and URL against records from Crossref, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar and Open Library. Include complete references where possible.

Does a verified reference prove a claim is true?

No. A match concerns bibliographic details. It does not establish that the source supports a claim or that a quotation accurately represents the work. Open and read the source.

Why can a real source be uncertain or unverified?

Missing details, abbreviations and limited database coverage can prevent a confident match. Add the full reference or look it up yourself. A database miss is not proof that the work does not exist.

Can I check an AI-generated bibliography?

Yes. Paste its References section into Citation check. Inspect each result and read any source you intend to cite; convincing formatting is not evidence that every detail is correct.

Which citation formats are available?

The paper-options preview includes source suggestions and APA, MLA, Chicago, IEEE and BibTeX formats. Check the source and its relevance before using a suggestion.

Text & privacy

What happens to my paper?

Text is sent to the server for the selected check, not for training the detector. Citation titles and reference details are queried against literature databases. Background jobs require temporary server storage.

What is saved in this browser?

Recent history stores a short excerpt, a result summary and scan metadata, not the full paper. It stays in this browser and does not sync between devices.

Does clearing history remove a running job?

Clearing browser history removes its local summaries. It does not cancel server processing or erase a retained server result. Completed server jobs are retained for 24 hours.

Trial & plans

How does the anonymous trial work?

The current trial allows up to 2,000 billable words per visitor per calendar month, subject to IP rate limits and overall service availability. The scanner shows the server’s remaining allowance. Language adjustments may make billable words differ from the raw count.

Are accounts and paid plans active?

Account pages provide a browser-local workspace preview. Paid plans are planned offers; checkout and subscriptions are not active, and no payment card is collected. Prices are shown for reference.

Is there a browser extension or classroom integration?

The current product is a standalone web scanner. It does not offer browser extensions, LMS integrations, writing replay, plagiarism detection or a humanizer.
